Jon Scheyer made history when the final buzzer sounded on Duke’s 59-49 win over Virginia on Saturday night.

He became the 1st person in history to win the ACC Tournament both as a player and as a head coach.

As a player, Scheyer won the ACC Tournament title in both 2009 and 2010. He was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2009 tournament.

Scheyer accomplished that feat in his 1st year as Duke’s head coach. He stepped in for the legendary Mike Krzyzewski this season and has led Duke to a 26-8 record this season.

Duke is playing its best basketball as it enters mid-March. The Blue Devils have won 9 games in a row and 12 of their last 14 contests. That stretch includes 2 wins over North Carolina and victories over tournament-bound teams such as NC State, Pittsburgh, Miami and Virginia.

The Blue Devils may have significantly improved their seed for the NCAA Tournament this week. Duke is now projected as a No. 4 seed, according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi.
