Florida State made a big addition to its transfer portal class on Wednesday night.

The Seminoles earned a commitment from Miami defensive lineman Darrell Jackson. He announced that decision on Instagram:

Jackson is leaving Miami after just one year in the program. Florida State will be his third school in the last three seasons. He played the 2021 season at Maryland before joining the Canes.

Jackson was a productive player for Miami in 2022. He totaled 27 tackles, 4.5 tackles and 3 sacks this season for the Canes. His transfer will bring him much closer to family in his hometown of Havana, Fla.

He becomes the first addition to Florida State’s transfer portal class in 2023. The Seminoles put together one of the most productive classes in the country for 2022 and will be aiming to do so again this offseason.

Because Jackson has already used his one-time transfer, he will need a waiver from the NCAA to be eligible in 2023.

Florida State plays Oklahoma in the Cheez-It Bowl later this month.
