Former Alabama running back Roydell Williams is heading to Florida State after 4 seasons with the Crimson Tide.

Williams competed for time in the backfield at Alabama with Jase McClellan, who led the Crimson Tide with 890 yards rushing. Williams finished 2nd on the team with 560 rushing yards.

The former Alabama RB announced that he had committed to Florida State in an interview with the media on Saturday. Williams took a visit to Tallahassee over the weekend. Williams was excited to work with Mike Norvell and the Florida State offense.

“I did commit. … I feel like I would fit pretty well in there,” Williams said while speaking with reporters after his visit. “It was the opportunity that he put out on the table for me and I’m ready to take the best position out there for me.”

As a freshman, Williams played in 8 games and tallied 71 yards and 1 touchdown. His role at Alabama began to grow the following season as he played in 10 games with 284 yards on the ground. He saw even more time in 2022, playing in 13 games with 250 yards rushing. This season, Williams played in 14 games and set a new career-high in rushing yards and touchdowns (6).

Florida State now has 12 transfer commitments so far this offseason. The Noles’ transfer class ranks in the top-5 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
