Florida State just made a major addition to its 2023 recruiting class.

The Seminoles picked up a commitment from 4-star linebacker Blake Nichelson on Tuesday evening. Nichelson was also considering Oregon and UCLA.

He made his announcement on CBS Sports HQ.

“The two times I visited there it just felt like home to be honest,” Nichelson said. He visited Tallahassee twice in 2022 — once in June and another time in July.

Nichelson is a major addition to Florida State’s 2023 class. He’s the No. 245 overall player and the No. 19 linebacker in the country for this cycle, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Mike Norvell was quick to acknowledge his commitment:

He’s listed at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds. The California native had major interest from west coast programs, but ultimately chose to commit to Florida State.

Throughout the process, Nichelson also earned offers from programs such as USC, Washington, Nebraska, Utah and Wisconsin, amongst others.

FSU now has 15 commitments and the No. 17 class in the country, per 247Sports Composite rankings. Florida State previously had the No. 22-ranked class in the nation.
