Florida State running back Treshaun Ward has entered the transfer portal, according to a report.

On3’s Matt Zenitz was first to report Ward’s exit:

Ward was Florida State’s lead running back for much of the season, but his production dropped off after he sustained a shoulder injury in October. Trey Benson and Lawrance Toafili took over most of the snaps until Ward was able to return late in the season.

Ward finished the year with 628 yards and 7 touchdowns on 95 carries. He was second on the team in both rushing yards and touchdowns.

His departure is a big loss for Florida State after he put together a career year in 2022. However, the Noles’ backfield figures to be a crowded one next season. Benson and Toafili have already announced intentions to return in 2023. Rodney Hill, who redshirted this season, could also be ready for more of a role with in the offense.

Instead, Ward will presumably look to go to a program where he can be a featured back.

Florida State went 10-3 in 2022.
