Florida State defensive lineman Jared Verse has a decision to make.

Verse could opt to turn pro after this season, but he also has remaining eligibility in college if he decides to return to Tallahassee.

After Florida State’s win over Florida on Friday night, Verse commented on what will go into that choice.

“Before I make a decision, I want to meet with the coaches,” Verse said. “I’m definitely going to sit down and think about it.”

Verse has been one of the best transfers in the country this season. He arrived from Albany last offseason and immediately adjusted to the speed of Power 5 and ACC football.

He finished the regular season with 14.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. Verse ranks second in the ACC in both of those categories. He’s been arguably the best pass rusher in the conference this season.

If Verse does turn pro, he’s a potential first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. It’s unclear if he would play in Florida State’s bowl game if he decides to forego the remainder of his college eligibility.

FSU will learn its bowl assignment next week.
