NC State guard Terquavion Smith is off to a good start in the pre-draft process.

In the weeks since the college basketball season ended, Smith has gone from a relative unknown to a potential 1st round pick in this summer’s NBA Draft.

Smith is at No. 33 overall in ESPN’s updated mock draft, which was released late Tuesday evening after the NBA lottery results were revealed. Analyst Jonathan Givony has Smith going to the Toronto Raptors with one of the top picks in the second round.

The Athletic’s Sam Vecenie is even more bullish on Smith. He has him going No. 24 overall to the Milwaukee Bucks in his latest mock.

Scouts are seemingly intrigued by Smith’s elite athleticism and his ability to create space for himself. As a freshman last season, he averaged 16.3 points per game.

Of course, it’s not yet a certainty that Smith will remain in the 2022 NBA Draft. He has left open the possibility of returning to Raleigh, but he will have to make a decision soon.

Smith is in Chicago this week for the NBA Draft combine where he will presumably be getting feedback from executives. He measured at the combine on Wednesday:

The deadline to withdraw from the 2022 NBA Draft is June 1. The NBA Draft is June 23.
