NC State will be at the mercy of Hurricane Ian in terms of its matchup with No. 5 Clemson on Saturday. For now, the Wolf Pack is preparing as if there is a game to be played Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

According to a report from the USA Today Network’s David Thompson, NC State plans on departing Raleigh on Friday to face off against the Tigers.

As of Wednesday, Hurricane Ian is expected to move down the coastline before the game’s 7:30 p.m. E.T. kickoff.

ACC officials will ultimately have the final say on if the game will occur this weekend. Multiple schools have already either postponed or moved their games forward or backward depending on the severity of the storm. In the SEC, Florida is set to play Eastern Washington on Sunday. South Carolina will face South Carolina State on Thursday night to avoid the effects of Hurricane Ian.

The Wolfpack are looking to take the leap into legitimate postseason contenders with a win against Dabo Swinney’s roster. Last season, NC State needed 60 hard-fought minutes, plus 2 overtimes, to pull off the 27-21 upset at Carter-Finley Stadium. Wolfpack quarterback Devin Leary threw for 238 yards and 4 touchdowns while running backs Zonovan Knight and Ricky Person Jr. combined for 170 yards.

The Tigers are coming off an impressive double-overtime win against Wake Forest. For the first time since 2020, DJ Uiagalelei was the catalyst for the team’s success. While Clemson’s defense allowed Demon Deacons’ QB Sam Hartman to throw for 337 yards and 6 touchdowns, Uiagalelei responded with 371 passing yards to go along with his 5 touchdowns.

Kickoff is still scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
