North Carolina offered a scholarship to 5-star guard Ian Jackson over the weekend.

Jackson becomes just the third player nationally to receive a scholarship offer from Hubert Davis in the class of 2024. He’s the No. 2 overall player in the country for his cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

He told Inside Carolina that he was “definitely excited” to hear from the Tar Heels.

“I was waiting to hear from him,” Jackson told Inside Carolina’s Sherrell McMillan. “When the call came in, I was definitely excited. I know a lot about the history of that program, from Michael Jordan to Roy Williams who used to be the coach. They’re a team I’ve enjoyed watching growing up.”

Listed at 6-foot-4, 170 pounds, Jackson has great size for high school guard. He’s also picked up offers from programs like UCLA, Kansas and Kentucky in recent weeks.

He attends Cardinal Hayes High School in Bronx, New York.

There is no timetable for Jackson’s commitment.
