North Carolina quarterback Jacolby Criswell is entering the transfer portal.

Criswell announced that decision on Sunday morning after North Carolina fell to Clemson in the ACC Championship Game this weekend. Here’s his announcement:

“This was a tough decision, but I think this is what’s best for my future,” Criswell said. “I’ll be entering the transfer portal and deciding where I’ll be playing in the coming weeks. I want to thank the Tar Heel community for their support.”

Criswell lost a preseason competition with Drake Maye to be Carolina’s starting quarterback. Maye never looked back as he won ACC Player of the Year honors this season.

Criswell was a 4-star quarterback in the class of 2020. He was the No. 262 overall player in the country for that cycle, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

He will have up to three years of eligibility at his next program. The transfer portal officially opens on Monday.
