Pitt WR Jordan Addison officially enters transfer portal

As expected, Pitt receiver Jordan Addison was officially entered into the NCAA’s transfer portal on Tuesday afternoon.

This was a formality after reports surfaced over the weekend that Addison was likely to explore other options. The Athletic’s Max Olson was first to report the change in status.

There’s been speculation that Addison could be in line for a significant NIL deal from USC. Addison and current USC quarterback Caleb Williams are both from the Washington DC area. According to ESPN, Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi called Trojans coach Lincoln Riley multiple times on Friday about this situation.

Addison is perhaps the most talented player to enter the transfer portal this offseason. He won the Biletnikoff Award last year after catching 100 passes for 1,593 yards and 17 touchdowns.

His entry into the portal is now likely to cause an NIL bidding war of sorts between top programs like USC. Texas — who hired former Pitt WR coach Brennan Marion this offseason — could also be a candidate.

Addison could also still decide to return to Pitt for the 2022 season.
