Syracuse has dismissed wide receiver Damien Alford from the team, according to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Alford plans to enter the transfer portal as a grad transfer and find a new home for the 2024 season, according to Thamel. A fourth-year junior from Hollywood (Fla.) McArthur, Alford led the Orange with 610 receiving yards on 33 receptions in 2023.

It’s not immediately clear what led to his dismissal.

Alford will leave the school after making 42 career appearances. He posted 67 receptions for 1,291 yards and seven touchdowns throughout his four seasons with the program.

Syracuse signed Alford as a 3-star recruit out of the 2020 class. He picked the Orange over interest from Virginia, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami, and NC State. He also had offers from Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

The departure marks another move in an offseason full of them for new Syracuse head coach Fran Brown. The Orange have seen more than 30 departures from players off of last year’s roster. The 2024 signing class has featured 34 combined high school recruits and transfers.
