Notre Dame picked up its second commitment in as many days on Friday afternoon.

The Fighting Irish earned a pledge from 3-star safety Ben Minich.

Here’s his announcement:

Minich chose Notre Dame over a group of finalists that also included Oklahoma, Kentucky, Cincinnati and Stanford. He received his Notre Dame offer in late July.

Minich is the No. 51 safety in the country for the class of 2023, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 18 player from the state of Ohio.

He joins Notre Dame’s class a day after the Irish got a commitment from 4-star linebacker Jaiden Ausberry.

Minich gives Notre Dame 22 commitments so far in this cycle. His commitment also strengthens Notre Dame’s lead on Alabama for the No. 1 class nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Minich and other 2023 prospects will be able to officially sign with Notre Dame during the Early Signing Period in December.
