Thomas Castellanos pulled off one of the best plays of the day in all of college football on Saturday.

Facing a 4th and 5 late in the game, Castellanos scrambled away from multiple Northern Illinois defenders in order to pick up the 1st down.

His travels took him 35 yards behind the line of scrimmage before he was able to turn back and find Lewis Bond down field for the 1st down.

Here’s a replay:

Unfortunately for the Eagles, Boston College ultimately lost this game to NIU. After trailing 21-4 in the 4th quarter, BC was able to force overtime but couldn’t come away with the win.

Castellanos didn’t start the game, but he did get the majority of the work at quarterback. He completed 13-of-28 passes for 138 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.

It’s a disappointing loss for Boston College, who is hoping to reach bowl eligibility this season. Boston College is in the 4th year with Jeff Hafley at the helm. The Eagles went 3-9 last season.

Boston College will host Holy Cross in Week 2.
