5-star defensive lineman Peter Woods will announce his college choice on July 8.

That’s according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, who cites a conversation with Woods. The talented pass rusher is considering Clemson, Alabama, Florida and Jackson State.

Here’s the announcement:

Woods has been a top target for the Tigers this spring. He was on campus last weekend for an official visit, along with dozens of other high-profile prospects.

Since that mega recruiting weekend, Clemson has picked up 6 total commitments — including 4 4-star prospects. It’s possible more commitments are still to come, too.

However, Woods was arguably the most talented visitor Clemson had last weekend. He’s currently ranked as the No. 23 overall player in the country in 2023, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Woods is listed at 6-foot-4, 265 pounds. He attends Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama.

If Woods picks Clemson, he would become the Tigers’ top-ranked commit in the class of 2023. The group currently ranks No. 8 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
