Clemson is one of 7 finalists for 4-star offensive lineman Monroe Freeling.

Freeling is the top-ranked player in the state of South Carolina for the class of 2023, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also ranked as the No. 80 overall player nationally.

In addition to Clemson, Freeling is also still considering Michigan, Miami, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Georgia and Florida. Here’s his announcement:

Freeling is a major offensive line target for the Tigers. Clemson has been doing well on the recruiting trail as of late, as they picked up 3 commitments in the class of 2023 in April.

However, Clemson has struggled to generate momentum on the offensive side of the ball in that class. The Tigers have just 1 commitment so far from an offensive player — 4-star receiver Nathaniel Joseph, who is reportedly being courted by Miami.

There is no timetable for Monroe’s decision. Players in the class of 2023 will be able to sign with a program during the Early Signing Period in December.
