Jonathan Weitz makes 1st career field goal attempt in return to Clemson
Jonathan Weitz is off to a good start as Clemson’s starting kicker.
Weitz was a longtime backup behind B.T. Potter, but left the team upon graduation this past offseason. However, he’s been taking graduate classes at Clemson this semester and re-joined the team this week.
Weitz came into this game against FSU with 0 career field goal attempts at the collegiate level. He went 3-for-3 on extra points during his time with the Tigers.
Weitz got his opportunity to make his first-ever field goal against Florida State from 30 yards out. Here’s a replay:

According to ESPN’s broadcast, Weitz was due to start a job with Ally Financial in New York City in a matter of weeks. Instead, it appears he will be Clemson’s starting kicker moving forward.

Weitz is taking over for Robert Gunn, who is 1-for-4 on the season on field goal attempts.
Clemson is looking for its 8th consecutive win over Florida State.
