Dalvin Cook’s stay with the New York Jets didn’t even last a single season.

According to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero, Cook and the Jets on Tuesday “mutually agreed to part ways”, making Cook a free agent. After 6 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, he is now in search of his 3rd NFL team in nearly 7 months.

Cook made 4 Pro Bowls with the Vikings from 2019 to 2022, posting 1,000-plus yard seasons in that time span. In 2020, he set career highs in rushing yards (1,557) and touchdowns (16). But the Vikings eventually released him in June after failing to find a trade partner for his services.

He then signed with the Jets in August, but only recorded 67 carries for 214 yards and 0 touchdowns. His best outing as a Jet was against the Atlanta Falcons as he posted 9 carries for 35 yards. The Jets, currently at 6-10, will miss the playoffs for a 13th straight season.

As Pelissero notes, this opens the door for Cook to sign with a contending NFL team with the hopes of adding a Super Bowl to what has been a solid NFL career.
