Florida State had one hole to fill on its 2025 schedule, and according to NoleGameday’s Dustin Lewis, that hole has been filled by Texas A&M-Commerce. The Seminoles and Lions will meet on Sept. 6, 2025, at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.

The Lions, led by Clint Dolezel, play in the FCS’s Southland Conference. In their 2nd season as an FCS program after transitioning from Division II, they went 1-9.

While Texas A&M-Commerce will make for a clear guarantee game for Florida State, its 2025 home schedule includes at least one intriguing matchup: the Seminoles open that year at home against Alabama on Aug. 30. They also host Kent State and will welcome ACC foes Miami, Pitt, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest to Tallahassee.

The 2025 schedule includes non-conference road games to Florida (Nov. 29) and Stanford. Clemson, NC State, and Virginia will serve as the Noles’ away conference opponents.

Florida State is coming off a 14-1 season in 2023. It put together a perfect regular season and won the ACC Championship en route to an Orange Bowl appearance.

It will have its head coach around for a while, too: following the retirement of Nick Saban, Mike Norvell was courted as a candidate at Alabama before ultimately signing an 8-year contract extension worth a reported $10 million a year.
