Florida State will play its home games with a reduced capacity at Doak Campbell Stadium in 2024.

FSU athletic director Michael Alford announced that news on Thursday morning. The reduction in capacity is due to ongoing stadium renovations, which aren’t set to be completed until 2025.

Per Alford, FSU will have a capacity in the “mid-to-high 50,000s” for this upcoming season. Prior to the start of renovations, Doak Campbell Stadium had a listed capacity of 79,560.

Doak Campbell Stadium is in the midst of significant renovations. According to the stadium’s project page, the “grand reopening” for the West/South renovated areas is set for August of 2025.

Here is FSU’s stated goal for this renovation project:

The goal of the stadium renovation is to update historic Doak Campbell Stadium with a number of new, modern seating experiences that our fan base has asked for over the years. The result will feature our iconic one-of-a-kind stadium with new and refreshed experiences related to seating, climate-controlled club spaces, and amenities.

Florida State is expected to compete for the ACC title again next season. The Noles will be defending their 2023 crown after they won the ACC for the first time since 2014 this past season.

FSU’s 2024 home schedule includes Boston College, Memphis, Cal, Clemson, North Carolina, Charleston Southern and Florida.
