Jared Verse was dominant early on in Florida State’s annual spring game.

Verse, who is in first season with the Seminoles after transferring from Albany, showed off his pass rushing ability in a big way. He picked up 2 sacks and blocked a field goal early on in the game.

Verse was one of the biggest transfer portal pickups across the entire ACC this offseason. Last year at Albany, he recorded 10 tackles for loss and 4 sacks. He was named the defensive rookie of the year of the Colonial Athletic Association.

He arrives at Florida State with three years of eligibility remaining. He’s listed at 6-foot-4, 251 pounds.

Florida State returns a lot of talent on the defensive side of the ball, but does have to replace Jermaine Johnson. Johnson is preparing for the NFL Draft after winning ACC Defensive Player of the Year last season.

FSU opens the 2022 season against Duquesne on Aug. 27.
