Jared Verse spent some time talking up Florida State’s defensive line while representing the Noles at ACC Kickoff on Wednesday.

Verse was asked about incoming transfer Braden Fiske and ended up commenting on Florida State’s defensive line as a whole.

“I don’t think anyone can compete with our D-Line,” Verse said, via NoleGameday’s Austin Veazey. “We’re too deep, we have too much talent.”

Verse also gave high praise to Fiske, who arrived at Florida State this offseason after a standout career at Western Michigan.

“He is one of the only people I’ve met that can match my intensity with no problem,” Verse said.

Florida State’s defensive line is projected to be one of the top units in the country this season. The group is led by Verse, who is projected to be a potential top 10 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He recorded 17 tackles for loss and 9 sacks last season.

Fiske posted a career-high 12 tackles for loss and 6 sacks at Western Michigan last season — elite numbers for an interior lineman.

Other standouts on FSU’s defensive line include Patrick Payton, Fabien Lovett, Darrell Jackson and Gilber Edmond.

Florida State will open the 2023 season against LSU in Orlando on Sept. 3.
