Mike Norvell gave an injury update on Florida State running back Treshaun Ward on Tuesday.

Ward has been nursing an upper-body injury, but Norvell seems optimistic about his chances of playing this weekend vs. the Canes.

“Tre got more work and will continue to progress as the week goes along,” Norvell said. “I felt good about where he’s at.”

Ward left the second quarter of the NC State loss on Oct. 8 with an upper body injury. He did not play in the last two games against Clemson and Georgia Tech.

Ward was able to participate in at least a portion of Tuesday morning’s practice.

In six games, Ward rushed for 488 yards and 3 touchdowns. He had 72 rushing attempts for Florida State. Florida State could use Ward’s presence in the running game.

Trey Benson and Lawrance Toafili have received the majority of the playing time in Ward’s absence. Both players were exceptionally effective in FSU’s win over Georgia Tech in Week 9.

Florida State has an important game with Miami on Saturday. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. ET.
