Brent Key’s Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets sit at 2-2 on the season after an important win over Wake Forest Saturday evening.

It’s Key’s first full year with the program after a 4-4 record last season in relief of Geoff Collins. And while 2-2 is far from ideal for Key, the Yellow Jackets have not disappointed so far in 2023, falling in a close one to Louisville Week 1 and then again in Week 3 to a simply superior Ole Miss squad. No shame in that.

Ahead of GT’s win over Wake Forest, Key told his team he believes they have the ability to be a “dang good football team.” And he meant it. He recalled his full conversation with his team on Wednesday morning.

“We’ve gone through 3 games and shown the ability to be a dang good football team. I wanted them to believe that, they know I’m not going to BS them, they know I’m not going to sit there and tell them what’s not true,” Key said. “When I told them that I really believe that they were a team so that when we start to roll into this part of our schedule, there’s no reason they shouldn’t go into every game and have the upmost confidence and belief that we’re gonna go out there and win the football game.”
