Georgia Tech adds Sun Belt team to future schedule
Georgia Tech has reportedly added a Sun Belt team as a future nonconference opponent.
Jeff Reed of 247Sports’ AStateNation reports that Georgia Tech and Arkansas State will meet in 2027. The Yellow Jackets are paying the Red Wolves $1.1 million for the game in Atlanta scheduled for Sept. 4, 2027. Georgia Tech is also scheduled to play Notre Dame (Oct. 2) and Georgia (Nov. 27) in the 2027 season.

The schools have not met before and do not have any other meetings scheduled at this time. It remains to be seen if the 2 teams will have the same head coaches in 4 years.
Both Georgia Tech and Arkansas State are currently coached by former members of Nick Saban’s Alabama staff. Brent Key is in his first season as Georgia Tech’s full-time head coach. He posted a 4-4 record as the Yellow Jackets’ interim head coach.
Butch Jones is in his third season at Arkansas State. The former head coach of Central Michigan, Cincinnati and Tennessee has a 5-21 record with the Red Wolves.
