El Ellis was a bright spot on an otherwise dreary Louisville basketball team this past season. The senior guard finished 2nd in the ACC in points per game, averaging 17.7 a contest with 4.4 assists.

On Wednesday, Ellis announced that he would be entering his name into the NBA Draft process while maintaining his college eligibility. There is a belief that transferring is on the table for Ellis as well.

He posted the following on Twitter Wednesday afternoon:

Is Ellis an NBA prospect right now?

Louisville had an all-time terrible season this past year. The Cardinals won just 4 games in Kenny Payne’s first season as head coach, and at times it seemed the players didn’t seem like they wanted to be on the court. Regardless, Ellis was uber-impressive. He scored 20+ points 13 times this past season, with a high of 33 against Miami in February. He also dropped 28 in a win over Clemson a few weeks later.

Should he choose to not return to Louisville, Ellis is likely a 2nd round draft pick, though there is a strong chance he would go undrafted.
