Louisville continues to make impressive additions to its 2023 recruiting class.

The Cardinals picked up a commitment from 5-star running back Rueben Owens on Monday afternoon.

Here’s Owens’ announcement:

Owens becomes one of the top 2023 prospects to commit to any ACC program — not just Louisville.

He’s the No. 16 overall prospect nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. Owens is also the No. 1 running back in the country.

Originally from El Campo, Texas, Owens chose the Cardinals over offers from virtually every major program.

Owens also said late Monday night that he will not take any visits to other programs:

Louisville’s 2023 recruiting class is shaping up to be something special. The Cardinals already have 10 commitments, including 5 from blue-chip prospects.

The class currently ranks No. 11 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings. Louisville could also continue to add blue-chip commitments to this class. It already has a strong quarterback commitment from 4-star QB Pierce Clarkson.

Owens and other 2023 prospects will be able to sign with a program during the Early Signing Period in December.
