Former Tennessee edge Tyler Baron has had a change of plans. After announcing on Dec. 16 that he would continue his career at Ole Miss, Baron is heading to the ACC instead.

Baron took to social media on Tuesday to reveal that he has flipped his commitment to Louisville.

Baron departed Rocky Top after appearing in 46 games with 18 starts. He logged 101 career tackles with 27 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, 3 passes defended, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery that was returned for a TD in his Volunteer career.

The 2023 season was Baron’s best yet. He posted a career-high 6 sacks over 12 contests, helping the Vols reach the Citrus Bowl.

It’s a tough loss for Ole Miss, but don’t feel too bad for the Rebels. Lane Kiffin’s program still has the No. 1 transfer portal class for 2024 according to 247Sports. Kiffin’s staff has picked up commitments from 14 portal players as Ole Miss is generating early hype to make the expanded College Football Playoff field of 12 next season.

Louisville has been even busier in the portal. Jeff Brohm has earned pledges from 25 portal players during the latest cycle.
