Louisville picked up a late piece for the 2023 recruiting class Monday, landing a commitment from a player former committed to play at Memphis.

The player is Ty-Laur Johnson, a 4-star point guard out of New York. Johnson previously committed to Memphis in November but reopened his recruitment near the end of April.

Now, Johnson joins a strong 2023 recruiting class for the Cardinals:

Listed at 6-foot and 160 pounds, Johnson is rated as a 4-star recruit and the top player out of New York per the 247 Sports Composite. Johnson is also the No. 12 PG and the 77th overall player in the country for the cycle.

Louisville already held the No. 5 recruiting class in the country per the team composite prior to Johnson’s commitment. That group includes 5-star SF Trentyn Flowers, 4-star center Dennis Evans and a pair of 4-star SFs in Kaleb Glenn and Curtis Williams Jr.
