Teddy Bridgewater’s NFL career is currently in its 10th season, but on Saturday, the former Louisville quarterback revealed that it will be his last year in the league.

“I’m just really appreciative that I’m in Year 10,” Bridgewater told the Detroit Free-Press, according to ESPN. “I tell everyone this is my last year, so I’m in my final year and I’m just enjoying it all, man.”

Bridgewater is currently the backup to Jared Goff with the Detroit Lions and has seen little to no action thus far. Following 4 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings — who selected him with the final pick of the 1st round of the 2014 NFL Draft — he became a journeyman due in part to injury, with the Lions his 7th NFL team.

“It just put everything into perspective, and it really helped me not even have to think about not being a starter,” Bridgewater said of a dislocated knee and torn ACL suffered in an Aug. 2016 training camp practice session. “It’s like, ‘Man, I still got purpose.’ And my purpose is bigger than the game of football. Football is just a platform that I have.”

Next up for Bridgewater? Coaching high school football and spending more time with his family, he said.
