Cormani McClain’s closely watched recruitment is over.

The 5-star recruit out of the class of 2023 committed to Miami over Florida, but did not sign during the Early Signing Period. He’ll instead head to the Pac-12 and join Deion Sanders at Colorado, he announced on Thursday evening.

Rated as the No. 12 recruit in his class by 247Sports, McClain is considered the nation’s No. 1 cornerback prospect. His original pledge came on Oct. 27 when he committed to play for Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes.

However, discussions around his status began as he opted not to sign an NLI in December. He would go on to take an official visit to Colorado on Jan. 13, setting in motion his choice to play in Boulder with Coach Prime.

It’s yet another major recruiting win for Sanders, who has garnered a reputation of flipping high-level recruits during his brief coaching career. Travis Hunter, the No. 1 recruit in the class of 2022, originally committed to Florida State but instead signed with Jackson State to play with Sanders. He entered the transfer portal after Sanders’ departure for Colorado, unsurprisingly committing to the Buffaloes.
