Joe Lunardi has weighed in on the weekend matchups in college basketball going on around the country. Out of the ACC, the popular ESPN analyst sees major implications for Miami’s Saturday road trip to Pittsburgh.

The Hurricanes wrap up a brutal stretch of games with Saturday’s game vs. the Panthers their 6th road contest in the past 8 games. So far, Miami has gone 4-3 in that stretch with wins over Notre Dame and Florida State away from home.

As for Pittsburgh, the Panthers have been a pleasant surprise but still have some work to do in terms of their status for the NCAA Tournament. According to Lunardi, Saturday’s game is a must-win for Pittsburgh.

Lunardi believes Miami has a shot to knock Pittsburgh out of the projected field with a win. A win by the Hurricanes would drop the Panthers — currently a member of the “last four in” section — out of the projected field.

In terms of seeding, Miami is currently solidified as a No. 5 seed for the Tournament and has better than 80% odds of making the field. Pittsburgh would currently be projected as an 11-seed and playing in the First Four round, but the Panthers need a win on Saturday to maintain that spot.

Saturday’s game is set for 4 pm ET on ESPNU.
