Miami starting defensive tackle Nesta Silvera is entering the transfer portal, he announced on Wednesday.

Silvera has been a four-year contributor for the Hurricanes but has one year of eligibility remaining. Here’s his announcement:

“It’s with a very heavy heart and a bunch of sleepless nights that I have decided to enter the transfer portal,” Silvera wrote in-part.”

Last season, Silvera played in 11 games for the Hurricanes and racked up 5.5 sacks. He made 38 total tackles and forced a fumble. He leaves Miami with 16 tackles for loss and 2 sacks in his career.

It’s unclear where Silvera will be looking to go next. He’s originally from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Miami is entering a transitional phase under new coach Mario Cristobal. He replaced Manny Diaz this offseason, who was fired after three seasons at the helm.
