NC State running back Jordan Houston is electing to redshirt this season. The Wolfpack announced the news on Thursday on social media.

Houston is slated to finish academically in the fall and graduate. The senior is no longer listed on NC State’s roster online.

The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman included Houston on his “Freak’s List” heading into this season.

The 5-foot-10, 192-pound Houston rushed for 96 yards on 25 carries this season. Houston has been with NC State since 2019 and has compiled 1,392 yards and 6 touchdowns on the ground. Houston has also amassed 60 receptions for 398 yards and a touchdown during his time at NC State.

Houston will now have the option to become a graduate transfer. Houston becomes the 2nd running back to transfer from NC State in the past 6 months, along with Demie Sumo-Karngbaye, who is now at Kentucky.

NC State is off to a 2-1 start this season, most recently defeating VMI 45-7 in Week 3. Brennan Armstrong completed 27 of his 32 passes for 264 yards, a touchdown, and no interceptions in the bounce back victory after falling to Notre Dame.

Next up for NC State is an ACC road matchup at Virginia on Friday (7:30 p.m. EST/ESPN). NC State leads the all-time series 36-22-1 against Virginia and ride a 2-game winning streak against the Cavaliers.
