Drake Maye is having a spectacular year, and it just keeps getting better for the North Carolina QB.

On Wednesday, Maye landed in the top-5 of ESPN’s updated Heisman Watch list. The redshirt freshman fell amongst the likes of Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker and Ohio State’s CJ Stroud on the list. Both Hooker and Stroud are widely considered to be the front-running contenders.

Maye has certainly shown that he can hold his own with the other big names at the QB position. In last Saturday’s performance alone Maye accumulated 388 yards and five touchdowns against Pitt. Maye is is fourth in the nation with 2,671 yards, and is tied with Stroud for most touchdowns in the nation at 29 this season.

It’s not the first accolade this season for Maye. The QB was previously named to Pro Football Focus’ midseason All-America team as an honorable mention behind Hooker, Stroud, and Young.

Maye’s Heisman odds increased significantly following his performance vs. Pitt over the weekend.

Maye and the Tar Heels will face Virginia this Saturday. Kickoff is at 12:00 p.m. ET.
