Drake Maye will declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.

The North Carolina quarterback, in his 3rd season with the Tar Heels, had 2 years of eligibility, but he will forgo them and instead enter the draft, he told ESPN’s Pete Thamel on Monday.

Maye, regarded as one of the top draft-eligible quarterbacks in the country, saw his 2023 numbers slip a bit from his impressive redshirt freshman season but still shone for the Tar Heels. In 12 games, he has thrown for 3,608 yards, 24 touchdowns, and tossed just 9 interceptions. On the ground, he has 449 yards and 9 touchdowns on 112 carries.

Maye burst onto the scene in 2022, settling in as Mack Brown’s starting QB in Chapel Hill after Sam Howell left for the NFL. That year, the Charlotte native totaled 4,321 yards and 38 touchdowns vs. just 7 interceptions. He also ran for 7 touchdowns and 698 yards.

Now, Maye’s next stop will be in the professional ranks as he’ll be considered a 1st-round pick in the spring, with a successful college campaign in his rearview mirror.
