North Carolina will be without forward Dawson Garcia again this weekend as the Tar Heels take on NC State.

Coach Hubert Davis announced that news on Friday afternoon. He said there’s no timetable for Garcia’s return but he remains in daily contact with Garcia and his family.

Garcia has missed UNC’s last two games as he tends to a family matter back home in Minnesota.

The Tar Heels have had to learn how to adapt without Garcia in ACC play. He also missed time in January due to a concussion. Since Christmas, he’s played in 4 games and has 14 total points.

Forward Brady Manek has stepped up in Garcia’s absence. Manek is averaging 13.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game since the beginning the of January.

North Carolina is entering a critical portion of its schedule. The Tar Heels have won back-to-back games, but will need to continue stacking ACC wins in order to have a chance on Selection Sunday. UNC is currently considered to be a bubble team as the calendar moves toward February.

Tipoff vs. NC State on Saturday is at 2:00 p.m. ET.
