North Carolina fans weigh controversial no-call at Georgia Tech with Tar Heels' lackluster performance
North Carolina suffered a difficult loss Tuesday night, and it came after the No. 3 Tar Heels didn’t get a foul called on RJ Davis in the closing seconds of the 74-73 loss.
If a foul was called, Davis could have won the game at the foul line. But because of the way the Tar Heels played, many fans suggested that UNC didn’t deserve to win.
As it stood, Naithan George’s left-handed layup with 7.7 seconds remaining gave Georgia Tech a win over North Carolina to end the Tar Heels’ 10-game winning streak.
Georgia Tech had struggled overall lately, including 3 straight losses and 8 of the last 9. However, this was the Yellow Jackets’ third home win over a Top 25 team after they beat No. 21 Mississippi State 67-59 on Nov. 28 and No. 7 Duke 72-68 on Dec. 2 to open the ACC schedule.
Here’s a sample of the reaction:
Duke wins because of bad officiating at the end of the game Saturday and tonight UNC loses on a horrible no call at the end of the game. ACC officials are definitely ready for Saturday. pic.twitter.com/tnpwtfoUBm

Ya I’m not gonna lie, unc got hoe’d on that no call

UNC didn’t play well enough to win but still sucks when the officiating compounds the issue with weak calls to foul out your point guard and no respect for an ACC POY caliber player.

Teddy valentine with the most atypical bullshit no call I’ve seen in my life. If that were on UNC’s homecourt/NCAA neutral court game that would be called 10/10. “Home court advantage” shouldn’t be applied to referees, yet it was tonight. Lemme know what your Venmo is, you owe me

Blame it on a bad no call but @UNC_Basketball was absolutely pathetic against a really bad team

UNC did not play well tonight and they probably deserved to lose with that effort, but that was an interesting no call to end the game

UNC player did not throw his head back as theatrically as the Duke player did, thus no foul call. ACC refs demand top quality acting.

GA Tech def just got some major home cooking….two no calls to end the game… ridiculous…but Heels shouldn’t have let them hang around
