North Carolina has added North Carolina A&T to its 2028 football schedule, according to a report.

FBSchedules.com was first to report that news on Thursday. The report says UNC will pay the Aggies $430,000 for agreeing to play the game.

The Tar Heels will host North Carolina A&T on Sept. 16, 2028, per the game contract. However, the contract also says the game could be moved to Week 0 of that season if NCAA rules permit. The deadline for the game to be moved to Week 0 is Oct. 31, 2027, per the report.

North Carolina also played in Week 0 during the 2022 campaign. UNC defeated Florida A&M 56-24 last season during Week 0.

North Carolina A&T is a FCS program. The Aggies went 8-4 last season, which included a loss to Duke in September.

The Tar Heels have faced North Carolina A&T once before. That matchup took place back in 2015 in Chapel Hill. UNC won the game 53-14.

UNC now has 3 nonconference opponents on the books for 2028. The Tar Heels are also set to face South Carolina and James Madison that season.
