CBS Sports expert Jerry Palm has updated his bowl projection for Notre Dame entering Week 13.

Palm is projecting the Fighting Irish playing in the Gator Bowl against Arkansas.

Notre Dame has a long history with the Gator Bowl, but it has not appeared in that bowl in two decades. The Irish’s last appearance in the Gator Bowl was in 2002. Notre Dame’s lone Gator Bowl victory came against Penn State way back in 1976.

This would surprisingly be Notre Dame’s first-ever meeting with Arkansas. Both the Irish and Razorbacks are in the top 25 of all-time wins, but they’ve never met on the gridiron.

Notre Dame is trending in the right direction. The Irish have won eight of their last nine games, including five in a row. In Week 12, they shutout Boston College 44-0 in their final home game of the season.

If Notre Dame can upset USC in Week 13, it could be in line for a New Year’s Six bowl berth.

Notre Dame and USC kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
