Notre Dame is set to open the 2023 season with a special season opener in Ireland. On Tuesday, the Fighting Irish provided a number of details for the Week 0 matchup against Navy.

According to an official announcement from Notre Dame football, the Aug. 26 matchup in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium is sold out. The game is also set for a 2:30 pm ET start time, putting it as a primetime local kick in Ireland.

The broadcast for Navy vs. Notre Dame will be on NBC.

Season openers in Ireland have become more and more commonplace in recent years. Last season, Nebraska and Northwestern out of the Big Ten opened their 2022 season in Ireland.

Notre Dame is looking to improve on a 9-4 record during Marcus Freeman’s first season leading the program. The offseason has provided a bit of give and take for the Irish with the team landing quarterback Sam Hartman via the transfer portal but losing OC Tommy Rees to Alabama.
