Notre Dame is 1 of just 10 teams still in the mix for one of the nation’s top running backs in the class of 2025.

Gideon Davidson, a 4-star prospect from Virginia, announced his top 10 program on Friday afternoon. In addition to the Fighting Irish, Davidson is still considering Clemson, Michigan, Oregon, USC, Penn State, Ohio State, Colorado, Tennessee and Iowa State.

Here’s his announcement:

Davidson attends Lynchburg Christian Academy in Lynchburg, Virginia. He’s listed at 6-foot, 193 pounds.

He’s already established himself as an elite prospect in 2025. Davidson is currently ranked as the No. 38 overall player and the No. 3 running back in the country, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 2 player from the state of Virginia.

It’s still very early in the 2025 recruiting cycle, so Notre Dame does not currently have any commitments in that class. However, it’s a good sign to see the Irish already in the mix with other elite prospects in Davidson’s recruitment.
