Notre Dame has parted ways with receivers coach Del Alexander, according to a report.

That’s per 247Sports’ Tom Loy, who reports the news is now official.

Alexander spent 5 seasons at Notre Dame. He arrived in South Bend prior to the 2017 season after a stint with Arizona State.

Notre Dame’s receiving room struggled mightily in 2021. Kevin Austin was the leading receiver with 48 catches for 888 yards and 7 touchdowns. He’s expected to leave Notre Dame for the NFL Draft this offseason.

Outside of Austin, no other wide receiver cleared the 400-yard threshold for the season. Tight end Michael Mayer and running back Kyren Williams were two of the top four receivers on the team.

This will be the first major staff change that Marcus Freeman will have to make as Notre Dame’s head coach. The rest of Notre Dame’s staff has stayed largely intact since Brian Kelly’s departure.

Notre Dame currently has one receivers committed in the class of 2022 — 4-star receiver Tobias Merriweather. He signed with Notre Dame back in December during the Early Signing Period.
