Brian O’Connor, Virginia baseball’s head coach for the past 20 years, will be inducted into the ABCA Hall of Fame, The American Baseball Coaches Association revealed Wednesday morning.

According to a release by Virginia athletics, O’Connor will be inducted at the 2024 ABCA Hall of Fame Banquet held on Friday, January 5, 2024. He is one of 10 new members receiving the honor.

“I’m incredibly humbled by such a prestigious honor,” said O’Connor via the aforementioned release. “To enjoy the sustained success that we have had at the University of Virginia, it starts with great players. I’ve been fortunate enough to have not only great players, but tremendously loyal and dedicated assistant coaches. I can’t thank our former players, our past and present coaches enough. They all have been so integral in the success of this baseball program and I share this honor with every one of them.”

O’Connor’s Cavaliers cracked their 6th College World Series berth under his leadership this past season. O’Connor’s Cavs won the national title in 2015. A year later, O’Connor recorded his 595th win at Virginia, making him the all-time winningest coach in program history.

The 3-time National Coach of the Year surpassed 800 wins this past season.
