Nick Jackson, former Virginia LB, shares appreciation for fans, teammates after entering transfer portal
Nick Jackson entered the transfer portal on Dec. 12 after 4 years in Charlottesville.
With 1 remaining season of eligibility remaining, Jackson wrote a message to Virginia fans and teammates Sunday afternoon thanking them for the past 4 years with the program. While it was a longshot to begin with, he also essentially confirmed he would not be withdrawing his name and returning for the Cavaliers next season.
To my teammates, coaches, staff, alumni, Charlottesville community, and fans it has been an honor to represent @UVAFootball. I am forever in debt. Cville will always be home for me. I can’t thank you all enough for the past 4 years of support as I move on to the next chapter🧡💙 pic.twitter.com/faBC0PIcCO

The veteran linebacker was one of Virginia’s best defenders, totaling 352 tackles across his career. In 2022, Jackson totaled 104 tackles, 41 more than Jonas Sanker in 2nd place.
While nothing is final, Jackson did recently take an official visit to Iowa this weekend ahead of his post Sunday. A commitment to his next school is expected soon.
