Marcus Freeman updates Notre Dame's injury situation as fall camp begins
Fall camp is underway in South Bend, and coach Marcus Freeman delivered some positive injury news on Friday morning.
The Fighting Irish are mostly healthy going into camp, with the notable exception of receiver Joe Wilkins and running back Jadarian Price. Both Wilkins and Price will miss the opener vs. Ohio State on Sept. 3.
Freeman also announced that Notre Dame freshman OL Joey Tanona has medically retired due to injuries he suffered in a car accident.
Coach Freeman: (On health of team): Joe Wilkins and Mitch Evans, JD Price are not expected to be play in the game. The rest of the guys we expect to be back September 3.

However, Freeman indicated that — as of now — the rest of the roster will be ready to go for Ohio State on Sept. 3. That includes running back Logan Diggs, who has been nursing a shoulder injury. He’s expected to be a big part of Notre Dame’s running back room in 2022.
Overall, this is good news for a Notre Dame team that has a very tough September schedule. After visiting the Buckeyes on Sept. 3, Notre Dame also faces North Carolina in Chapel Hill in September.
Kickoff vs. Ohio State is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on Sept. 3.
