Golden is in his first season as Notre Dame’s defensive coordinator. He was hired to replace Marcus Freeman’s role this offseason after Freeman was elevated to head coach.
Prior to arriving in South Bend, Golden had been an NFL assistant coach from 2016-21. He coached in a variety of roles for the Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals.
However, he was also previously the head coach at Miami and Temple. He also has assistant coaching experience at programs like Virginia, Penn State and Boston College.
Notre Dame’s defense has been solid so far in 2022. The Irish are allowing 5.31 yards per play, which ranks No. 57 nationally entering Week 5.
Notre Dame is off this week but will face BYU in Las Vegas in Week 6.
