An NFL matchup in Week 2 showcased Miami’s moniker of Tight End U.

Former Hurricane standouts Brevin Jordan and Will Mallory squared off during the contest between the division rival Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts.

The rookie Mallory’s Colts defeated Jordan’s Texans 31-20. Afterwards, Jordan fondly reflected on the path for both tight ends and highly endorsed Miami as a standout program.

“THIS WHY YOU GO TO THE U! Came in together, same position, grinded together, COMPETED against each other, never left, never swayed, stayed true and now we both playing against each other in the NFL. Why Miami?? This why. #TEU.”

Mallory caught 2 receptions for 49 yards, including a 43-yarder, in the win. Jordan finished with 2 receptions for 27 yards.

The Colts selected Mallory in the 5th round of the 2023 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-4 Mallory was a Second-team All-ACC selection in 2022.

The Texans tabbed Jordan in the 5th round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Jordan has amassed 36 receptions for 333 yards and 3 touchdowns as a pro. While at Miami, the 6-foot-3 Jordan earned First-team All-ACC honors in 2019 as well as 2 selections to the Second-team (2018, 2020).

Miami will aim for a 4-0 start this season when they take on former Big East rival Temple on Saturday (3:30 p.m. EST/ESPN2).
