Miami DB re-enters transfer portal after 1 season with program, per report
Miami defensive back Davonte Brown, formerly at UCF, is back in the transfer portal after 1 season with the Hurricanes, according to 247Sports. He will have one season of eligibility remaining.
Brown, the older brother of Canes DB Damari Brown, spent 3 seasons with UCF after signing with the program from the class of 2020. He played in 10 games and started 5 times as a true freshman, making 23 tackles. In 2021, he added 33 tackles, 2.o tackles for a loss, and 1 sack while posting an interception and a team-high 12 passes defensed. He was credited with 30 stops and 2.5 TFLs in 2022 while making 2 interceptons.
He transferred to Miami in the offseason and played 10 times, finishing with 10 tackles.
The Hurricanes have now seen 12 players enter the transfer portal since it opened. Brown’s entry makes him the 3rd in a week, with wide receiver Brashard Smith entering on Saturday and edge rusher Collins Acheampong doing so on Sunday. Miami was 7-6 in 2023, the program’s 2nd season with Mario Cristobal as head coach.
