Miami’s defense came up with a huge play late in the first half against Florida State on Saturday afternoon.

Trailing 10-7, FSU had possession and was looking to score points before the half. Instead, an offensive holding call put the Noles behind schedule — which ultimately created a disaster for Florida State.

Jordan Travis was sacked for a 14-yard loss on what appeared to be a safety upon review. However, the call on the field was that Travis was tackled in the field of play. After review, that decision was upheld by replay officials.

That’s a massive officiating decision that ultimately resulted in Florida State retaining possession. However, the Noles were eventually forced to punt out of their own end zone, giving Miami tremendous field position for the final drive of the half with 1:24 remaining.

After nearly throwing an interception on the first play of the ensuing drive, Miami was able to end the half with a made field goal. That score means the two teams went into halftime tied 10-10.
